An IT auditor assesses computer networks and infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities and inefficiencies, and evaluate whether the organization is compliant with IT regulations. They can work as an in-house auditor or in an IT consultancy firm. On the other hand, some IT auditors also work in government agencies to conduct externally compliant audits of multiple companies. 


The IT auditor evaluates databases, computer networks, development systems, hardware, and software. That’s why they usually have a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. However, some employers might hire candidates with non-traditional career backgrounds like online courses or certificate programs.


You should highlight your data visualization skills on your resume. Since you’ll often communicate with non-technical stakeholders, you should illustrate your discoveries in a digestible way. That’s why data visualization is so important in this role. You can also mention related tools like Tableau or Microsoft Excell.
